The EnterpriseDB Corporation Exception for Open Source Applications Using GridSQL

The “Programs” listed below are licensed by EnterpriseDB Corporation under the GNU General Public License version 2 (the “GPL”).  EnterpriseDB Corporation wishes to allow open source software applications (“Independent Works”) to interoperate with the Programs even when the licenses under which the Independent Works are provided are not compatible with GPL.

Legal Terms and Conditions

As a special exception to the terms and conditions of the GPL:

You are free to distribute, in source code and object code format, executable software that is composed entirely from: (a) one or more of the Programs; and (b) one or more Independent Works distributed under any of the “Approved Licenses” listed below, the combination of (a) and (b) becoming a “Combined Program”, as long as:

1.      The Independent Works contain no copyrightable part of the Programs, and

2.      The Independent Works reside in different source code files from the Programs source code files, and

3.      The Programs and modifications to the Programs, including without limitation distribution of the Programs and modifications, adhere to the terms of the GPL and this exception, and

4.      Distribution of object code or executable code of the Combined Program is accompanied by the corresponding complete source code of the Combined Programs.

If all of the above conditions are not met, then the Programs may only be copied, modified, distributed or used under the terms and conditions of the GPL version 2, or as may be otherwise expressly agreed to by EnterpriseDB Corporation.  For avoidance of doubt, this special exception does not allow either you or your licensees to combine the Programs in the same executable with code licensed under any license other than an Approved License.
